Final Report – Important Reminders

Dear all,

As you prepare to submit your final report, here are a few important reminders:

1. If you’d like the full ICS report to be graded, please make sure to clearly state that on the cover page. Otherwise, we will not the information of the Half-way Report by default.

2. Referencing and Citations Matter - APA Style
Referencing is a crucial part of any academic work. Make sure you properly cite all your sources. There are excellent step-by-step tutorials on YouTube about how to reference correctly—take a moment to check them out if you're unsure.

3. A report is like a story

It should have a clear beginning (introduction), middle (analysis and findings), and end (conclusion)

Don’t assume the reader knows the background; walk us through your process, insights, and conclusions in a clear and logical way.

4. Executive Summary vs. Introduction – Know the Difference
These are not the same thing,
and both have specific roles in your report:

  • Executive Summary: A brief overview of the entire report, including key findings and recommendations. It is written after the report is completed but placed at the beginning. Think of it as what a busy reader would need to know if they only had 1 minute.

  • Introduction: Sets the stage for the report. It provides context, outlines the purposescope, and structure of the report, and helps the reader understand why the report exists.

Good luck with the final push!

Looking forward to reading your reports!

Best,
Your TAs
